Etosha National Park; the Fish River Canyon; the rolling red sand dunes of Sossusvlei, the unique culture of the Himba people; the German architecture of Swakopmund; and the mountainous scenery of Damaraland are all reasons to visit this extraordinary country.

With the Namib and Kalahari deserts inhabiting its borders, Namibia is primarily a large desert plateau. The landscape is made up of five geographical areas, allowing for a dramatic variation in weather and vegetation conditions throughout the country. Photography enthusiasts are drawn here for this very reason and are spoilt for choice with subject matter whether it is wildlife, culture, or the great outdoors.

You can catch a short, two-hour flight from Johannesburg into Windhoek (the capital of Namibia) and begin your trip from there. For those with more time, we would recommend pairing your holiday with South Africa as the two countries are bordered in the South by the Orange River. Road-tripping through the oldest desert in the world and onto Cape Town in South Africa is an adventure of a different kind!

The summer months can get extremely hot so we recommend visiting between July and October.
