HIGHLIGHTS

Amakhosi, meaning ‘Place of Kings’ in the Zulu language, offers a luxurious five-star safari experience for the whole family. One of the reasons that make this lodge so special is the ‘home-away-from-home’ feeling you get from the moment of arrival. The staff are warm and friendly and welcoming (many who have worked there for decades) and for those needing a break from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day living, the Zen-like atmosphere will instantly put you at ease.

The lodge offers six river suites, two honeymoon suites and an exclusive two bedroomed private villa situated a short distance from the main lodge. During your stay all your meals are served on the enchanting lodge deck. This includes a delicious breakfast, high tea in the afternoon and a five-course dinner of ‘African fusion cuisine’. In the evenings, guests come together by the fire pit and share stories of their sightings from their game drives that day. Two game drives depart daily, in the early morning and late afternoon, and there are other seasonal activities on offer, which you can sign up for at reception.

For those wishing to re’treat’ a little more, the Amakhosi River Spa is just the place for a bit of R&R. In between treatments you can relax by the infinity pool that offers panoramic views of the river and there is also a small gym where you can let off some steam after your game drives.

This reserve is home to all of Africa's Big Five animals (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhino) and other species such as giraffe, warthog and antelope.
