Cape Town, West Coast & Cederberg

A fun trip that begins in Cape Town and loops up the West Coast, through the Cederberg, and back to Cape Town via Hermanus. This tour is an authentic glimpse into the ever-changing landscape of the Western Cape and the natural beauty found in majestic mountains, coastal towns, trails, and winelands. After three event-filled days in Cape Town our journey sets off along the West Coast visiting Langebaan, Paternoster and up to Lambert’s Bay. We then head inland to Clanwilliam and Citrusdal, continuing south towards Tulbagh. This epic road trip finishes in Hermanus where we will spend two nights in this gorgeous seaside town. We suggest booking this tour in Spring (between September and October) to catch sight of the wildflowers that cover the land and to view the southern right whales in Hermanus.

ITINERARY

Day 1

· Collected from Cape Town International Airport

· Transferred to hotel

· Check in

· Afternoon at leisure to get your bearings and rest up before the action begins

Day 2

· This morning we head to the base of Table Mountain to catch the cable car to the top – enjoy the views!

· This is followed by a colourful tour of the ‘Mother City’, which will finish off at the V&A Waterfront where you can shop, eat, and view Table Mountain from a different perspective

· Head to Signal Hill in the late afternoon to watch the sun set over the city

Day 3

· An early morning start as we make our way around the mountain and alongside the Atlantic Ocean to the most southwestern point of the African continent

· Visit the Hout Bay market and view the local seals in the bay

· On arrival at Cape Point Nature Reserve, we will catch the funicular to the top where you are rewarded with panoramic views that will blow you away (figuratively speaking)

· On our return we will visit Boulders beach and meet the endangered African Penguins species

Day 4

· Today we depart for Langebaan travelling alongside the West Coast National Park

· Arrive in Langebaan in time for lunch at Die Strandloper – a ten course seafood buffet served on the beach, local style!

· After a long, lazy lunch we will travel to Paternoster, one of the oldest fishing villages on the West Coast where we will stay overnight

Day 5

· This morning we head out to Elands Bay and take a walk to the caves to view San Rock Art that dates to the Middle Stone Age

· Our journey continues to Bird Island Nature Reserve - one of six sites in the world where thousands of Cape gannets breed

· In the afternoon we will head inland to Clanwilliam, located in the Cederberg

Day 6

· Clanwilliam is the ‘Rooibos Tea Capital’ and this morning we will visit a Rooibos Tea Farm for tea tastings, tours of the old homestead rooibos plantations, and insight into the rooibos production process

· The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at your beautiful guesthouse in Citrusdal

Day 7

· Today take us to Tulbagh, stopping at Riebeek-Kasteel (one of the oldest towns in South Africa) along the way

· Wine tasting is enjoyed in Tulbagh this afternoon (own account)

· As we near the end of our trip this is a very peaceful setting for rest, rejuvenation, and reflection!

· We return to our hotel for another wonderful evening under African skies

Day 8 & 9

· Our last stop before returning home is Hermanus

· Hermanus is renowned for its whale watching and there are a variety of activities that one can do such as: as boat trips, horse-riding, or walking for miles on the famous Cliff Path (which, allows for incredible photo opportunities). The next two days are at leisure to explore the town, participate in optional activities or simply put your feet up and relax

· Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your flight home
