Explore Namibia

Namibia is a country with extraordinary landscapes and as you travel across the desert you will be amazed by the vastness of the land. This ten-day overland tour departs from Windhoek, the country’s capital, and journey’s north to Etosha National Park. Etosha, meaning ‘great white place’ in the Ovambo language, is home to plenty of animal and bird species, which we will hopefully get the chance to see during our safari.

Our next Namibian experience is meeting a Himba tribe and touring their village; the Himba are one of the last remaining semi-nomadic tribes left in the world and we have the privilege of leaning about their culture and way of life. As we head south, we will come across the coastal city of Swakopmund, bordered by the Namib Desert and Atlantic Ocean. Additional activities such as, quad biking, horse riding, sand boarding and desert eco tours can be arranged from this point. This is the perfect place to take a break from the road before our trip continues further south through the Namib Desert.

Sossusvlei is our grand finale and we spend our final two nights in the desert before returning to Windhoek.

ITINERARY

Day 1

· Collected at Windhoek Airport – please look out for a board on which your names will be displayed

· Transfer to your hotel/guesthouse

· This afternoon we will have a brief city tour of the capital and get an overview of the history of the country

· Welcome dinner at a local restaurant that provides a wonderful introduction to Namibian culture

Day 2 & 3

· Today we travel to Etosha National Park for a 2-night safari experience where we will have the chance to capture some beautiful wildlife moments while trying to seek out 4 out of the Big 5 (the buffalo is not found in this park). The driving time between each destination is long when navigating Namibia so your guide will discuss your itinerary over the next two days for your safari in Etosha and what will be most suitable

Day 4

· This morning we depart for Damaraland stopping off at a Himba Village enroute. The Himba are an indigenous people, and we can meet them and tour their village

· We continue to Damaraland where we will stay for the night

Day 5 & 6

· After a leisurely breakfast we hit the road again and travel to Swakopmund – a city steeped in German colonial architecture

· Check in to guesthouse

· The following day is at leisure to visit the local market, relax on the beach or sign up for activities in the desert

Day 7 & 8

· The next two nights are spent in this exquisite setting – the red dunes of Namibia

· Opportunity to climb the famous Dune 45 or ‘Big Daddy’ and visit Deadvlei (the place that turns every person into a professional photographer!)

Overnight: Sossusvlei BB

Day 9

· Our final leg of the trip takes us back to Windhoek

· Farewell dinner
