Hikes in the Drakensberg

On this trip you will discover ancient rock art by the San bushmen in one of the largest painted sites in South Africa. It is approximately 45 minutes to the Main Caves from Giants Castle Camp, where our walk begins, and we weave our way along the trail that dips into the valley, crossing streams, through an indigenous forest and up to the gates of the cave (this area is fenced to protect the paintings). On arrival you can experience this outdoor museum showing the Bushmen’s way of life and receive an interpretation of the paintings by the on-sight guide.

ITINERARY:

• Collected at 7am from your guesthouse/hotel

• Travel to the Drakensberg Mountains

• On arrival at Giant’s Castle Camp we will set off on a 1.5 hour moderate hike

• Fun & informative Rock Art Interpretation and learn about the San way of life

• Head back to camp for a well deserved lunch

• Return home at approximately 5pm
