This tour takes us on an exciting ascent up the renowned Sani Pass into the Kingdom of Lesotho where we visit a local Basotho village followed by lunch at ‘The Highest Pub in Africa'. Sani Pass rewards travelers who dare to brave its’ bends with exceptional views of the Drakensberg Mountains and your experienced driver will navigate the bumpy dirt road, climbing to an altitude of 2876m. Lesotho is a landlocked country encircled by South Africa and known for its highland vistas roamed by blanketed Sotho shepherds on foot or horseback. Home to the Basotho people who practice age-old traditions, Lesotho is mostly rural with little industrialisation, offering visitors a much-needed breath of fresh air!
ITINERARY
Collected at 6am from your guesthouse/hotel
Travel to the Underberg
Transfer into 4×4 jeeps and ascend the summit
Passports are required for the border posts (please check beforehand if you require a visa to enter Lesotho as this must be arranged prior to travel)
Basotho cultural experience – we are welcomed into a traditional hut and given an introduction into the Basotho way of life
Lunch at ‘The Highest Pub in Africa’ – enjoy the views!
Return to your guesthouse/hotel at approximately 6pm
