The Cape Winelands

Time to uncork, wine a little, and laugh a lot! On this trip we visit two popular destinations on the Cape Winelands Route, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Franschhoek, one of the South Africa’s oldest towns, is considered the food and wine capital of the country and is nestled in one of the most picturesque wine valleys in the world. The French influence is palpable and this stems from the French Huguenots of yesteryear who cultivated the land and soon discovered the delicious fruits of their labour. Learn about the wine making process and some of South Africa’s most well-known wine labels that have gained an excellent reputation both locally and abroad. Before returning to Cape Town, we will visit Stellenbosch – a university town decorated with hundreds of Oak Trees that draws wine enthusiast from all corners of the globe. This getaway is an explosion of culinary delights, award-winning wines and quaint boutique stores all waiting to be discovered.

Itinerary:

Day 1

· Collected at 10am from your guesthouse/ hotel in Cape Town

· Travel to the Cape winelands through valleys and mountains to the village of Franschhoek

· Arrive in time for lunch and to explore the village of Franschhoek

· Check in to your accommodation situated on a wine farm

· This afternoon hop on board the wine tram for a unique experience of the Cape Winelands

· Overnight: Franschhoek Wine Farm BB

Day 2

· Leisurely breakfast

· This morning we will experience a tour of the cellars and wine tasting

· The afternoon is at leisure to shop, enjoy spa treatments or simply enjoy these beautiful surroundings

· Overnight: Franschhoek Wine Farm BB

Day 3

· After a leisurely breakfast we depart for Stellenbosch

· Visit the historical Oom Samie se Winkel and have the chance to walk around this charming town that holds many attractions

· Return midday to Cape Town
