Explore Kruger National Park
One of the largest game reserves in Africa, the Kruger National Park is South Africa’s most treasured wildlife destination in the northeastern provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo. Here you will find all the Big Five animals (Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, and Rhino) and other wildlife species in abundance! Due to the size of the park - approximately 360km’s long and 65km’s wide with several rivers running through its interior – the Kruger offers ever-changing landscapes making it an exceptionally scenic wilderness region. Within the park are private game reserves, also known as ‘concessions’, that offer private lodge accommodation and open-vehicle game drives for your safari experience. Some of these private reserves form part of the region known as the ‘Greater Kruger’ as they share unfenced borders with the park, allowing animals a larger territory to roam. One such place is the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, famous for its leopard sightings and an excellent choice when deciding which location to visit. Our safaris in the Kruger National Park are inclusive of private lodge accommodation, meals, and game drives with professional rangers who are highly skilled and knowledgeable in animal behaviour, and the fauna and flora of the park. Game drives depart twice a day, at sunrise and in the late afternoon (the times when animals are most active), and usually last a duration of approximately 3 hours each. Between game drives there is the chance to relax by the pool, enjoy your peaceful surroundings, and use the various facilities available to you at your lodge. For those booking our luxury lodges, these may have additional extras like private plunge pools, spa treatments, an on-site gym, and bush walks (subject to availability). All our Kruger packages can be customised to include your lodge of choice, duration of stay, and additional destinations where necessary.

When is the best time to visit the Kruger?

advance.

What can I expect on safari?
Your safari experience in the Kruger will consist of twice daily game drives that depart in the early morning and late afternoon. This is the best time to catch predators in action and witness the bush coming alive! Safaris are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles and can accommodate a maximum number of ten guests.
What do I wear on safari in the Kruger?
Wearing colours that blend into nature is recommended for a safari; an example of these neutral tones would be khaki, shades of green, or beiges and browns. Regardless of season, it is always worth-while to pack sunhats, sunscreen and a good pair of closed walking shoes; a light rain jacket and jumper are also advised.
Many lodges/ hotels will have a swimming pool so remember to pack swimwear for the summer seasons. Dinner time at most lodges is a casual occasion - dresses, trousers, or jeans, paired with cool cotton shirts work well on those summer evenings.
Keeping yourself covered may provide extra protection against mosquitos if you are visiting a malaria region. If you are travelling during winter, then be sure pack a warm fleece/jacket and hats and scarves as those early morning and late afternoon game drives can get chilly!
Is their mobile reception in the Kruger?
There is cell phone reception in most parts of the reserve, but signal may vary depending on where you are. Private lodges do have access to WIFI so you will be able to stay connected in-between game drives. Cell phones must be turned off/ silenced during game drives to respect other guests and the environment you are in.
Can children visit the Kruger?
Absolutely! This is the best place for children to be – away from all those gadgets and screens! Lodges will state whether they are child-friendly, while some may only accept children over 12 years old.
A general rule of thumb is that children under the age of 5 years are not allowed on game drives, however babysitting services are usually available on site.
That said, private safari vehicles are available for hire at an extra cost to accommodate younger children and this is done at the discretion of your wildlife ranger.
