Serengeti Under Canvas

Experience a classic Tanzanian safari in spectacular solitude and soothing comfort - with only the canvas walls of your tent separating you from the wonder of the Serengeti. Carefully positioned for close proximity to the wildlife herds of the Great Migration, the two Serengeti Under Canvas camps provide the ultimate viewpoint for this amazing animal spectacle. With only eight tents nestled at each private campsite, enjoy the indulgence of complete comfort combined with the authenticity of nights spent in the African bush.

The annual movements of the camps are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the Great Migration, so you should not have to travel too far to see the vast herds. However, if the Migration has moved off or the dramatic river crossings are in progress, you may choose to spend more time on the vehicle to maximise your chances of seeing this incredible phenomenon.

When the Migration herds are not within easy reach, the camps remain in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the Serengeti, with game drives setting off in search of the exceptional resident game. This will allow for some magnificent, private game viewing, while there may be significantly more vehicles present during the Migration months, particularly at river crossings.

As you may be spending most of the day on the move, our safari vehicles are closed, with roll-down canvas windows and pop-top roofs. Game drives are conducted in the Serengeti National Park, so off-roading and night drives are not permitted.

ITINERARY

Day 1

· Collected from the Serengeti airstrip and transferred to Serengeti Under Canvas (there are scheduled chartered flights into the Serengeti from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport))

· Afternoon safari game drive followed by evening drinks around the campfire

· Dinner under the stars

Overnight: Serengeti Under Canvas Full Board

Day 2

· Serengeti safari experience (choice of morning and afternoon safari or one long full day safari). The Serengeti is a World Heritage Site with an astonishing number of wildlife in an area almost 15’000 square kilometers in size

· Return to camp for a delicious meal

Overnight: Serengeti Under Canvas Full Board

Day 3

· After breakfast transfer to airstrip for your flight home

What to bring:

· Neutral (beige, green, and browns) colour tones for your safari attire

· Suitable layers according to season you are traveling/ light cottons during the summer

· A fleece/ sweater and a warm jacket is always useful for the evenings and early mornings
