Victoria Falls - The Smoke that Thunders

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls is as magical as the photographs make it out to be. The locals of the area named it ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’, which means the ‘Smoke that Thunders’, because you can see the spray from the falls nearly 50km’s away. Our trip takes you to Zambia where we stay in a beautiful lodge on the Zambezi River, embark on a sunset cruise and visit the falls. Between March and April (and even early June) the Falls are at their fullest after the summer rains and the huge sprays are spectacular!

ITINERARY

Day 1

· Flight from Johannesburg International Airport to Zambia

· Collected from Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (Livingstone Airport) - please look out for a board on which your names will be displayed

· Transfer via road to lodge

· Check in

· Lunch overlooking the Zambezi River

· Afternoon at leisure

· Late afternoon/ early evening ‘Zambezi Cruise’

Overnight: Zambezi lodge accommodation BB

Day 2

· After an early breakfast we visit Victoria Falls – walk the pathways along the Falls that offer excellent viewing points and photographic opportunities

· We visit the market with its many curios and meet the locals

· Return to the lodge for lunch

· The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy a range of additional activities such as a helicopter flip or microlight flight over the falls; gorge swing; white water rafting; or spa treatments

· Alternatively, you can relax at the hotel and enjoy the view over the Zambezi river

Day 3

· We indulge in our last breakfast overlooking the Zambezi

· Check out
