About this trip

Namibia is a country with extraordinary landscapes and as you travel across the desert you will be amazed by the vastness of the land. This 11-day overland tour departs from Windhoek, the country’s capital, and journey’s north to Etosha National Park. Etosha, meaning ‘great white place’ in the Ovambo language, is home to plenty of animal and bird species, which we will hopefully get the chance to see during our safari. Our next Namibian experience is meeting a Himba tribe and touring their village; the Himba are one of the last remaining semi-nomadic tribes left in the world and we have the privilege of learning about their culture and way of life. As we head south, we will come across the coastal city of Swakopmund, bordered by the Namib Desert and Atlantic Ocean. Additional activities such as, quad biking, horse riding, sand boarding and desert eco tours can be arranged from this point. This is the perfect place to take a break from the road before our trip continues further south through the Namib Desert. Sossusvlei is our next stop and we spend two nights in the desert, visiting the massive red sand dunes and extraordinary location that is Deadvlei. The grand finale of this trip takes us to the Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world before retuning to Windhoek City for your flight home.

Daily Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Windhoek

Collected at Windhoek Airport – please look out for a board on which your names will be displayed

This afternoon we will have a brief city tour of the capital and get an overview of the history of the country

Welcome dinner at a local restaurant that provides a wonderful introduction to Namibian culture
