Explore Lesotho

Lesotho, also known as the ‘mountain kingdom in the sky’, is a landlocked country encircled by South Africa and situated in the Maloti Mountains. Most of the population in Lesotho are made up of the Sotho ethnic group (also known as the Basotho people) and Sesotho is the official language.

With little industrialisation, Lesotho offers visitors the opportunity to explore the vast landscapes, roamed by shepherds on horseback, and quaint rural villages. The ascent into Lesotho is via the iconic Sani Pass, which rewards travellers who dare to brave its’ bends with exceptional views of the Drakensberg Mountains.

For those looking for a genuine cultural experience in a remote land with glorious vistas, this is the destination for you.

Botswana FAQs

When is the best time to visit Botswana?

The dry season (July – October) is considered the best time to visit Botswana. Wildlife visibility in Chobe National Park is excellent, and mokoro and boating safaris in the Okavango are possible after the summer rains.

Which Airport do I fly to when visiting Botswana?

Kasane Airport serves as the gateway to Chobe National Park, and Maun Airport the gateway to the Okavango Delta and the Makgadikgadi region. If you are visiting all three destinations, chartered flights are available between the camps, and these are usually included in your travel package.

What are the top attractions in Botswana?

  • Chobe National Park

  • The Okavango Delta (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)

  • Moremi Game Reserve

  • Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

  • Nxai Pan National Park

  • Central Kalahari Game Reserve

  • Kgalagadi Transfontier National Park

  • Tsodilo Hills Rock Art

What is the best way to handle finances in Botswana?

The currency in Botswana is the Botswana Pula, however the US dollar is accepted for gratuities. We recommend traveling with credit cards/ debit cards that can be used at ATMS. Not all banks charge foreign transaction fees but please check with your credit card issuer. Please also advise your bank prior to departure that you will be using your credit cards in Botswana. There will be the opportunity to withdraw cash at International Airports and this is a better way to manage your money safely rather than travelling with large amounts of cash on hand.

Is Botswana Safe?

Botswana is considered a safe country for travel, especially in remote tourist destinations.
