About this trip
This tour takes us on an exciting ascent up the renowned Sani Pass into the Kingdom of Lesotho where we visit a local Basotho village followed by lunch at ‘The Highest Pub in Africa'. Sani Pass rewards travelers who dare to brave its’ bends with exceptional views of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains and your experienced driver will navigate the bumpy dirt road, climbing to an altitude of 2876m. After a day spent in Lesotho, you will return to your resort in the Drakensberg Mountains. The Drakensberg Mountains are one of South Africa's natural wonders, with a large part of this region being declared a World Heritage Site. These mountains are home to the largest collection of rock art in the world, and it is also where you will find a variety of unique fauna and flora. In fact, most aspects about the Drakensberg are large: large mountain peaks, many over 3000 meters in height; large antelope, such as the eland, which is also the largest antelope in the world; and large waterfalls – the Thukela Falls is the highest waterfall in Africa, flowing almost 1000 meters down the escarpment. With loads of activities to choose from this is a wonderful place to explore the great outdoors, with time spent in the mountains leaving you feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
