Day 1: Eswatini

Mantenga Lodge

  • Collected from King Mswati III International Airport – please look out for a board on which your names will be displayed.
  • Transferred to Mantenga Lodge, which is a one hour drive from the airport and located in the Ezulwini Valley (Valley of Heaven).
  • Visit the Swazi Cultural Village for a fantastic introduction into Swazi life.
  • Visit the beautiful Mantenga Falls, Swaziland's largest waterfall.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring the National Museum & King Sobhuza Memorial Park for insight into Eswatini's rich cultural history.

Mantenga Lodge is located in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley (Valley of Heaven) with each of its 38 tastefully furnished rooms equipped with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, DSTV, telephone as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Free wireless Internet (WiFi) is also available throughout the hotel.

Day 2: Eswatini

Mantenga Lodge

  • Visit the Ngwenya glass‑blowing factory to learn about the age‑old art of glass blowing, followed by visits to Swazi Candles and the Swazi Market.
  • This afternoon, sign up for additional activities in the area such as caving, river‑rafting, canopy tours, or hiking.

Day 3: South Africa

Amazulu Lodge

  • Morning transfer to St Lucia, South Africa.
  • Afternoon Hippo Boat Cruise on the St Lucia Estuary.
  • The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the town and dine locally – keep your eyes peeled for hippos roaming the streets!

Amazulu Lodge offers comfortable accommodation, delicious breakfasts and easy access to the wonders of iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Day 4: South Africa

Heading 4

  • Early morning departure to Hluhluwe‑Imfolozi Game Reserve for your first safari in a closed vehicle.
  • Lunch in the reserve.
  • After lunch, continue to the coastal town of Umhlanga Rocks.
  • Wander through the village (within walking distance of your guesthouse) and enjoy the café culture.

Day 5: Lesotho

Heading 4

  • 6am departure for Underberg.
  • Traverse the breathtaking Sani Pass with photo stops of the Drakensberg Mountain Range.
  • Cross into Lesotho and drive across the Roof of Africa.
  • Visit a traditional village and pass the Let’seng Diamond Mine.
  • Lunch at a lodge in the Maluti Mountain Range.
  • Visit Liphofung Bushman Paintings.
  • Descend Moteng Pass into the Lesotho Lowlands.
  • Arrive at Hlotse and enjoy dinner, bed & breakfast at an excellent facility.

Day 6: Lesotho

Heading 4

  • After breakfast, visit the Leribe Craft Market to see mohair products crafted by local women.
  • Visit Ha Kome Cannibal Caves – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Lunch at Thaba Bosiu (the Place of Kings).
  • Afternoon 4×4 ride to see dinosaur footprints (road conditions permitting).
  • Travel past the Ramabanta Trading Post into Semongkong.
  • Optional activities: abseiling, hiking, or horse ride to Maletsunyana Falls.
  • Enjoy dinner and bed in this one‑of‑a‑kind lodge as livestock wander past.

Day 7: South Africa

Heading 4

  • Morning presentation in a local hut on the significance of Basotho blankets (national dress).
  • Enjoy a wholesome breakfast at Semongkong before departure.
  • Drive through the steepest pass in Lesotho with breathtaking views.
  • Arrive at Qacha's Nek border post.
  • Picnic meal overlooking the South African Swartberg region.
  • Return to Underberg by late afternoon and transfer to Durban.
